I would be very grateful for suggestions for some kind of circular ride. I've never tried a hundred but I've done a few night rides, some of which might have been about seventy. I quite like riding alone, not least because I don't like slowing people down. I don't have a GPS so complicated wiggling is a bit hard. I have paper maps. I guess I'm after an imposssible flat route on quiet roads.

Adoring crowds would be a bonus. Thank you, and Happy Christmas.

I started to scout out a nice route to get to Brighton . Missing hills wasn't my aim but I seemed to have done so . Taking in box hill and back is about 70 miles from me in Hanworth but if you turn left just before box hill you go around it . You can then do another left ( on the A24 ? ) and go around leath hill and white down hill heading into Shire .
Then back through bookham , Effingham and Cobham . That must be a 100 miler and although not totally flat there are no killer hills in it .
P.S if you let me know when you are going i'll take some fancy dress in the van , dress up like a nob and run along side you now and then like what they do in le tour

Actually that sounds like a rather fun thing to do to unsuspecting cyclists anyway

Not specifically much help. But you can plan the route on Strava even if you don't use a GPS. It will give you the total distance & you can print course notes to stick in your back pocket.

Stonehenge - or at least towards there is easy enough, Martin. Somewhere on here (maybe) is an old ride I did, as I used to inhabit that 'sector'. I'll have a look, but even a meander around Windsor etc, perhaps throwing in a tour of Stanley Spencer land, followed by lunch at The Jolly Farmer, then a pootle to Bisham Abbey, then retrace to Windsor, Staines upon Character, Hounslow etcetera. (Could even pop into Davy's for a cuppa on the way back) and various criss-crossing along the way, would see a good, calm hundred. Windsor Gt. Park is a good lap in itself, and, once hoisted up Crimp Hill, the ride is nice and flat! You'll do it easily.

Unfortunately, all the old ride threads featuring the 'corners' that I allude to are unavailable, thanks to that sloppy keeper, Shaun Forumbloke ^_^...but I don't think there were many difficult ascents. Plenty of dissent, and descending into farce for the lunchtime raffles, but that was minor - like the roads. Definitely aim that way, Martin. Along the triangle, hit the Chiswickian Steppes and Hounds of Slow, before Feltham (no young offence, mate) and onward...get to Runnymede roundabout and hang a left and if you survive it, ascend like a mountain goat up and over, down and along, past Virginia Water,Camberley and beyond. Or, 'follow the road ahead' at Runnymede and revel in the splendour of Windsor Brown Castle (it's souper) Eton and then out into the aforementioned Cookham. Stop for a lunch at The jolly Farmer - they cook 'em - and bimble around, returning across the big meadow at Eton Wick...following your steps back to H'Smith. Mix of urban and rural - which appeals to me as I don't care about traffic too much. OR. Just get on the A4 and bomb it down to Marlborough, climb up one of those big hills and then...turn round and bomb back to London. This is Walnuttian in execution, but can be effective to ramp up the mileage.

If you want a flat ride of 100 miles ending in London, I cannot recommend the TDF stage 3 Cambridge to London route enough. Its realy flat, super fast, beautiful and fairly direct in routing terms. £12 for a train up and 95 miles home...push that onwards to Hammersmith and you've dropped a ton
