Can anyone suggest a very good Dynamo driven front light, which I can use for rural Winter commuting please?

I will watch this post with interest as I'm considering a move to dynamo lights, are you using hub or bottle?

Things have moved on apace since I was last looking, but the beam shots page of Peter White cycles is where I'd start.

From a quick look, it seems that the B&M Luxos (U or B, depending on what you want from the light - beam shapes are the same, but the U has a bar mounted switch & will charge USB devices) or Schmidt Edelux II have the best light output.

There are some good deals around on the Cyos too, it seems to me, now their IQ technology has been superseded by IQ2. If it was my money, I'd probably go for the Luxos.

I got mine from Rose. A very nice B&M (can't remember which model, but it's got a sensor and side lights). My commute is unlit lanes & it is the dogs.

I use a B&M Cyo T premium senso, this was an upgrade from the non-premium version and it's much better on unlit country roads and has a good wide spread a lot like a car or motorbike on dimmed. Again purchased from Rose.

I've just bought the above as I've missplaced my Cyo-T 60 lux version. The 60 was fine for commuting and audaxing in rural areas, but I decided to see what the even brighter one does. Bought from Rose, should be here in a couple days hopefully.

The Cyo's have a good beam pattern, as they are indirectly lit. They also give a good cut-off at the top of the beam so you can be sure you're not dazling oncomming drivers/riders.

I'm another fan of B & M lights and would heartily recommend them. I run an IQ Cyo Senso Plus which is excellent and can be bought fairly cheaply (around £30) now that it has been superseded.
I'm amazed by how reasonably priced they are now - I really need to get my Dynamo wheel up and running and buy one.

I ran a B&M IQ Cyo Senso & was impressed. It was adequate for unlit country roads, it would light the road ahead up very well, but there was a dark spot just in front of the bike (may be better on newer models?). When I upgraded my tourer to dynamo lighting I opted for a Supernova E3 & it is a far superior light, but worth 3x the amount of the B&M  If money is no object I'd go for the Supernova, but if you need to keep an eye on the budget go with the B&M
