Good luck to everyone picking up A level results today.

I’m a very proud dad today. Daughter got
A* maths
A* biology
A physics
B chemistry
State school education at its finest. The hours and hours of effort she put in paid off. And she worked so much harder than I ever did.

She’s off to Leeds for uni. Which is a long way from south London. She will have to learn to speak Yorkshire and get used to the cold.

Wow that's amazing. Well done her. Would have been tempting to have dropped one of the sciences but clearly stuck with it.

Wow, that’s a great set of results! What is she studying at Leeds?

Well done all. Don't worry if any of the kids haven't done so well, most Uni's have dropped tariff points so you are likely to get in where you want.

Proud grandad here.
Grandson got whet he needed for a place at Exeter, but he's taking a gap year first.
I go to Exeter a lot these days since my sister moved to the area. I see lots of students walking, running, and cycling around and what strikes me very forcibly is how happy they look - they always seem to be laughing and smiling! I wish that I had gone to university somewhere lovely like that rather than spending 3 years of my life in built-up/edgy Manchester/Salford.

Congratulations to all those with good exam results. I can barely remember getting mine, but it was over half a century ago so I have a good excuse!

Well done Beebo's daughter

I remember my "O'level results day

but my "A" level one was not much of an event for some reason

I remember looking at the list and noticing that I had got a D in maths and thinking that was about right

probably partly because all I needed was EEE to go where I wanted to (Nottingham) - and the other results were ABB (OK - the A was General Studies which only sort of counts)

I do wonder what would have happened if I had taken option B and gone to Edinburgh instead
