"We still opt for Shimano componentry throughout, as only Shimano do the full range of components we need. Deep brakes, hubs etc. And in our experience, the quality is above that of Campagnolo."

They've had the same 2 bikes in the window for over a year! The pale blue metallic one is indeed thing of beauty.

I often use them, the mechanic is monosyllabic and the lighting so poor you can hardly see anything. Still, they are very helpful and I like to use them rather than the nearby bike boutique place.

Aye, my local bike shop even if one of the owners can be a bit coarse.

They tend to be honest and try and find ways of avoiding more expensive jobs, if they can. I respect that.

I had their green touring bike. It was a thing of art. Truly gorgeous, but I sold it as it used to shimmy violently down fast descents.

The most extreme shimmy was down Wakefield road(three lane arterial route in and out of Bradford). I thought I was a gonner and couldn't stop shaking for about half an hour after I managed to bring the bike to a halt.

My lock up is just off Wakefield Road but I no longer cycle in BD1, 3 or 9, you have bigger balls than me. :okay:

The pics Ellis-Briggs use make me laugh, they have a World Heritage site 5 mins cycling away with umpteen fabulously scenic backdrops, yet they use the rear of the demolished cinema outside the shop! I think this bike was the the window dressing before the blue one.

Are these the same Shimano components that are used on Tesco bikes, or is that a different Shimano?

Ellis Briggs make their own bikes as well as sell ready-made ones. The ones in the window are their own-built frames and display only. If you wanted one they'd build it to your spec.
