All those times over 20 years I've ridden along the canal through Shipley - and not noticed the name of the bike shop by the towpath.

They've had the same 2 bikes in the window for over a year! The pale blue metallic one is indeed thing of beauty.

I often use them, the mechanic is monosyllabic and the lighting so poor you can hardly see anything. Still, they are very helpful and I like to use them rather than the nearby bike boutique place.

They tend to be honest and try and find ways of avoiding more expensive jobs, if they can. I respect that.

I had their green touring bike. It was a thing of art. Truly gorgeous, but I sold it as it used to shimmy violently down fast descents.

The most extreme shimmy was down Wakefield road(three lane arterial route in and out of Bradford). I thought I was a gonner and couldn't stop shaking for about half an hour after I managed to bring the bike to a halt.

Are these the same Shimano components that are used on Tesco bikes, or is that a different Shimano?

Ellis Briggs make their own bikes as well as sell ready-made ones.The ones in the window are their own-built frames and display only. If you wanted one they'd build it to your spec.

It would have been nice to have Shimano parts on my Tesco special. Sadly I had to go out and buy some because the parts on the bike were so bad.
