Anyone else got one?

I bloody hate the things. The one next door to us causes so much hassle to cut and because I'm a short arse, I can't get the top bits. I have to get step ladders in between all our plants and the cuttings cause a right load of grief.

Knob next door won't help a hand so my Dad has kindly really scalped it right back today. I don't think the neighbour is happy.

Shall I poison it?

I have a neighbour like that. He has been in the house for 4 years now, it's his hedge but he doesn't cut it at all. It is a mixed hedge with lots of hawthorn in it so a devil to cut. I spent a week last year really hacking it (with all the resultant rubbish to take to the tip) and he still hasn't looked at it this year! What do you do? Persevere I suppose and hope he moves................Wouldn't mind so much but he is a bloke and much easier for him to do it than me! Grrrrrr!

If you don't like it, kill it. If he doesn't like that, let him prove it was you what done it. (It always amazes me why people don't do this in those Leylandii wars you hear about. If it was me, I'd just poison the buggers. Oh dear, they're all dead. Moi? Prove it.)

Do it very slowly - it'll seem more natural like a disease - but use something very localised or else the dead plants next to it will give the game away.

However, a word of warning. Kill the hedge and you'll see more of your neighbour.

Aren't the cuttings his property? You ought to leave them for him.

If it's his hedge throw the stuff into his garden that's the legal requirement. Same for tree branches etc. But yes you could try and poison it but it will take a while Jeyes fluid should do the trick

Copper nails put paid to a hedge I didn't like once.

I try and keep the peace, although I would love to do it

We also have a roofing and shared wall problem that has been going on for 9 years now. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm sure he's got probs because one day he will speak and tell me 'all' he's going to do to sort out the roof problem and the next day - not a word, not even acknowledging a hello, when we see him. Very strange person. Unfortunately we can't sort out our roof without him agreeing with his.

It's a bit shoot tbh and causes a load of arguments between us.

Doesn't sound like he give a flying either way unfortunately.

Well you could have the work done get three estimates show him them, especially if it's work that's going to cause damage to the property. Tell him you're having the work done - bill him for half if he doesn't cough up take him to the small claims court the limit has gone up to I think £5000. Either way you sound like you're going have the work done on your home. Good luck:cheers:

How does that work? Nail the hedge to a large truck and drive away?

But really, aren't other people just the pits? I hate other people.

Like the killing the hedge idea. I had to go and cut my mother's hedge a few weeks ago, really overgrown, and she made me go over and cut the neighbours side as well. Really pissed me off. The woman next door doesn't work or do much of anything yet I have to cut her hedge? :0(
