We brought our new cat home last night, from the hereford Cats' Protection rescue centre. He's a one year old ginge, he's called Joe and so far he's hardly come out from behind the sofa cos he's shy and a bit unsettled. He's in here with me now, but you wouldn't know it. I'll post some photos when he finally comes out.;)

Lucky bugger. I expect you'll be posting pics of the new shed as well, just to wind us all up. What would I give to have a shed, or a cat?;)

He's not shy, he's doing what my old cat used to do - using the back of the sofa as a leather strop to sharpen his claws. ;)

Nice one RT, I find freshly cooked duck or smoked salmon is great for getting moggies out from behind things. I look forward to the pics. It's now almost two years since our Sophie died, and Mrs VC and I are starting to get that feeling that we are ready to have another pushkat around.

He'll be saying he's got some new slippers next.

Strangely enough, I'm expecting DHL to knock on the door any minute with a pair of sheepskin slippers for me. Would you like a photo of those too?

Excellent RT! Great you got a rescue cat too. The shelters are becoming more full by the minute as people get rid of pets due to the recession and as the results of litters from cats with owners too stuipd to get the cats speyed/neutered. Photographs are an urgent requirement!

Nice one RT, we had a rescued cat a few weeks ago, she's a Ginge too. She absolutely loves it and spends huge chunks of the day flat out on the bed (as most cats do).
It's a great feeling seeing them happy and settled. Give him a day or two and he'll be strutting around like he owns the place.

The only problem with having a rescue cat was that it meant visiting the rescue centre. We really wanted to take all forty or so cats home with us, but recognised that this wasn't a practical proposition . In the end, Joe just about edged out a tabby with three legs and a long haired black four year old, but it was a close run thing.

I've just got home from work to be greeted by our three cats. Emily the tabby came to say hello and then jumped back into her cardboard box, Phoenix the little black cat is now eating some food and Jango the white and tabby cat is running around the sofas chasing her tail. It's nice to be loved!
