For months and months I have been toying with the thought of buying a 6 speed Brompton. I am often going on about them to Jannie and she puts up with it, but is not keen on small wheeled bikes.

In thirteen years I have not seen a Brompton in Denmark, but that changed today on a ride to my local Supermarket. Jannie and I got off our bikes and were chatting outside the Supermarket and a guy was standing just over a little wall from us. I could just see the tops of the handlebars of his bike, but knew immediatley it was a Brompton. I struck up a conversation with the owner of the orange Brompton who turns out to be Richard from Shropshire. An Englishman on holiday in my neck of the woods. Thats 2 rare occurances in one day.

We had a long conversation with Richard and offered to show him a more scenic route back to his summer house of which he was grateful. On parting we gave Richard our number with the invitation to come round for coffee and cake with the family during the week.

He did not know about this forum and so I may have recruited a new member.

It is surprising how friendships can start over a bike.

Can you. Believe it?

A day later and I saw another Brompton.

Not one for 13 years and then 2 in 2 days.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Its like the old saying about busses. " you wait ages for one, then 2 come along at once".
