Hi there,

I have just acquired a Raleigh Pioneer Trail and, upon looking at it, realised there is nowhere to fix a pannier rack on. It has no screws (not even for a bottle cage) and not enough seat post for a rack to fit on there.
Any suggestions for fitting pannier welcome.

Thanks

That sounds surprising. One of the good things about Raleigh is that they usually put on mounts for mudguards and rack on most of their bikes.

Have you got any pictures? A conventional rack can be mounted using P clips if there are no mounts.

That looks more like it. As you say, no sign of any mounts. At the top at least. You can put the rack and the mudguard stay on to the same bottom fixing (my Raleigh Pioneer Jaguar was supplied like this from new and has had no issues) but you'll need the P clips already mentioned for the top.

Edit: you may need longer bolts for the lower mount.

I had to use the clips to fit a rack on my knockabout bike, like so:

I used 21mm stainless steel ones obtained from a marine chandlery and so far it's been really secure.
