A roads vs Country Lanes

Going North East it takes you to Whalley Nab, a fantastic climb or descent, thence straight into Whalley, home of Fell Bikes.

Country lanes as much as possible, often spend my lunch break on google maps planning routes.

Come for a ride up here, you can get the train from MCR Victoria to Clitheroe.

I tend to plan in the same way, but today I went out without a plan, and ended up on the a35 for several miles. I had the choice to turn off - cars go fast, but actually it felt very safe, and I really enjoyed being on a smooth straight road, poutling along at 40+ kph most of the way. So yes if there's a back road I know ill plan it, but I'm thinking now ill do a bit more on the a roads, or at least be less worried about going on them

If only it were my lunch break !
I'm excusing the amount of time I do spend as 'beginner excitement' and hope that it will calm down before to long so that things like the laundry can get done again.

I'm in Stoke, and that area does look like great country.
But I won't take up your offer just yet, I'm a big noob and still finding my legs .... would make an irritating companion!
Maybe once I've grown some stamina, (and some balls for those downhills !)

Nice to know
Do you do much to enhance visibility ?
Yellow tops don't seem to make as much sense in the daylight against green hedgerows ?

Maybe my paranoia will die down with experience .......

The only Hi-Vis item I have is my rain jacket. Every other top is just a bright colour, red is my favourite, but a couple of black ones too. I'll have a rear light on if it's really dull.

Completely normal!

90% of my rides head out to the west of here as I can't be bothered going into Cambridge! which isn't a big city at all! but I just don't want to go where there is traffic.
