Yeah, while I don't want to defend him either, and I hope a) you get fully better and plenty of recompense and  he learns a very serious lesson, I can't help thinking...18... It's not very old is it? He can't have been qualified long, and it's possible he got through his test on the minimum possible amount of lessons - maybe 20 hours of driving experience? There's got to be a better way to deal with learning to drive and making sure young people out there know what they are doing. Raise the age, or say you can't take your test until you've had a whopping amount of experience or something - maybe a year of learning minimum. From where I stand (the grand old age of 39), 18 seems like just a little boy...

Anyway, I hope everything gets sorted out easily for you. I'd be pretty gutted about losing a Foska top too!

Thanks for the comments, mr Mag00, Arch, et al.

The guy in the car behind him said to the policeman that he was amazed the lad turned in front of me (at least thats what the policman said to me). So at least someone did see me

Arch you are right, you can almost cram all the driving lessons into a few weeks and do enough to pass and then you're off, its only then you start to get the experience. Unfortunately young men do seem the most likely to cause accidents (I'm sure there are statistics for that). I'm 44 and my eldest lad is 15 so the jump to 18 is not big but it doesn't seem that old now.

I went back to the hospital yesterday, they confirmed I had fractured a bone in my hand on top of the rest (for good measure) and I've got to see a specialist about my knee, my collar bone is not healing well, so back in 6 weeks for that but my pot is off my foot which is one bonus !

Hopefully all my clothes, helmet and extra bits will be claimed back via CTC solicitors.
I've been told I will be getting vouchers for Evans cycles by the bike insurance company which I'm not happy about. We are in "discussions"

In a similar move in Glasgow yesterday a car pulled across in front of me. Thankfully, he stopped just 2 inches from my leg as I slid to a halt. I shouted at the dopey driver. He sat in his seat laughing at me. I knew I would have hit him had I stayed any longer - and just rode off shaking. I was comforted by some colleagues when I got to work who saw the whole thing and were amazed at his reaction.
