My speakers are the old Heybrook HB1s and still sound good.
I need some stands** but am struggling to find a supplier.........either far too big or too small.
**for years they have stood on a stone fireplace........that is being removed so I need stands.
Any ideas/solutions.
I have checked ebay.

Sadly probably your best bet, every time I go in there my soul dies a little (Leicester went from having 6-8 decent HiFi shops to just them)

I remember years ago deciding to get stands for my (home-built) speakers - similar sized to the Heybrooks as it happens. Took two pairs home to try. One pair were £50 and the other £150 - which was quite a lot of money 30 years ago. My speakers were stood on beer crates at the time. Tried the £50 ones and there was a clear audible improvement. Then £150 - a good bit better again (unfortunately !). Then just to make sure, went back to the beer crates. Ooh, dunno now - seems better than the £150 ones. After a bit more testing I concluded that each set up had very different sound, but I couldn't consitently say whether one was better. In the end I returned both sets of stands and stuck with the beer crates. The stands certainly sounded different, but not really consitently better.

Now got floor standing Kefs which are awsome - not cheap but a fraction of their new price. Anyhow, don't pay too much for stands compared to (say) a speaker upgrade 2nd hand as some quite tasty kit can be bought cheap on fleabay.

I looked at spending around the £120 mark on some Target stands for my old Mission 707s and auditioned them against some £30 Mission stands in 'Mays Of Leicester'
The Mission stands made the speakers sound much better.
