In future, when you wash your bottles, it's best to make sure that they are properly washed, and that you thoroughly dry them afterwards. Nasty growing stuff in there can make you rather unwell!!

A Kim and Aggie cleaning tip I remember seeing for cleaning the bottom of vases or decanters was to put raw rice in with some white vinegar.

Remove red wine stains from the bottom of a decanter by adding a few grains of rice and some distilled white vinegar. Rotate gently; the abrasive action of the rice will gently remove inaccessible deposits.

Just a thought. If you were concerned about using white vinegar in case it damaged your bottle, you could dilute it.

Plus, this idea is environmentally friendly. ;-)
