A technical confession

Feel better for that. I did same thing last year with a tip bike (Claud Butler though) I was doing up as a Uni bike for The LAd.

I exist in order that others can see how far up the food chain they are. There are only a few swimming beneath me. Some of whom I've mentioned.

Fitting new shifters recently I ran the rear cable under the BB shell and carelessly neglected to thread it through the guide (It still indexed perfectly, mind) so began the simple task of unclamping and re-routing it. I'd put the end cap on the cable and it wouldn't pull off so out came the cable cutters to snip the end off, still leaving plenty of spare to do the job. Now there are two ways of cutting a cable, carefully and neatly resulting in a clean professional cut, or in a bodgers ham fisted gorilla like manner resulting in the cable unravelling itself over a good few inches making it unusable.

It was eight in the evening and I didn't have a spare cable...

I confess that on Saturday I did attempt to insert a cartridge bb into the wrong side of the bb
I confess that in part I did succeed
I confess that in succeeding I did swear at it and question it's birth
I confess that I spent far too long inserting it before realizing my mistake
I confess I didst then un-insert it, survey the thread, brush out the swarf and smear old grease in there
I confess I did then take it to my LBS and told him I'd bought a dodgy 2nd hand frame on ebay (partly true)
I confess I have not told anyone real, only you lot
I confess I am a complete buffoon only surpassed by 3bm and macb

In penance I shall not touch a bb again but take it someone who is not a complete buffoon
In penance I shall proffer no advice on bb's

Don't be put off. Now you've done it, it is extremely unlikely that you will do it again. Persevere.
