A36 Woolverton to Warminster

I've got permission to cycle from home down to Longleat on Saturday morning whilst the rest of the family drive down..

Looks like I'll end up on the A36 from Woolverton to Warminster. Are there any local riders who can reassure me or caution me on how cycle friendly that stretch is?

Check for alternative routes using the Strava Global Heatmap, alternatively check for any NCN routes that go there too. I'd rather not cycle on the A36..

You can avoid the a36 going from Salisbury ,road goes from wilton through to Wylie then onto sutton venny hand a left to longbridge devral then the road bears around shearwater via crockerton up to centre parcs,I'm sure his is part of a cycle route ,great ride ,I have a friend in Wylie ,often use it as a stop

Thanks @the_mikey great idea re Strava, The NCNs are too meandering to get me there on time.

@Berties I'm heading down from the Bath direction so that route might not work for me, thanks anyway.

It's Woolverton (two o's) Somerset not Wolverton Wilts at a guess if heading from Bath.

Thanks - yes that's right. I think I should give up as I am not giving out the right information for people to help me. I should have made it clearer that I need to meet up in Warminster at the Travelodge services.

That route looks very nice...

I think I have cracked it. Persuade SWMBO to pick me up BEFORE the route joins the A36. D'oh. Sorry and thank you all for your help.

A cracking 25 mile ride from Winterbourne to Woolverton via the railway path, two tunnels, Hinton Charterhouse and Norton St Phillip. Mrs kindly picked me up for the rest of the trip to Longleat.
