I've had a beer now and calmed down a bit and I think I will pop down to the bus depot tomorrow and have a quiet word with his gaffer. I don't think I will involve the police ( I think I was just feeling a little heated at the time ) but his boss needs to know of his bad driving. After seeing that awful picture it really hits home just how dangerous cycling can be and as cycling becomes more popular in this country , drivers need to be made more aware of our ever changing modes of transport. You know what though ,. If the bus driver would of stopped further up the road and had the " balls ' to apologise to me I would of shuck his hand and that would of been an end to it..I know for a fact if I was him I would of apologised and promise to be extra careful in future. I drive in excess of 30k a year and in the 25 years of driving I've only knowingly upset one cyclist which was entirely my fault..As I stopped my car he caught up with me and was ranting and raving at me but I just simply apologised and sympathised with him. By the time I got back in the car we had sorted it all out with a hand shake and every morning after we would exchange a wave.. A lot of bad driving is just through ignorance of not being aware of cyclists and I think the government should promote driver awareness of the humble cyclist. Those old Government TV adverts you used to see ,should be reinstated but with a modern take on issues that are apparent in today's society. Trucks turning left on cyclists, educating youngsters to use lights on there bikes at night. Those simple adverts of yesterday made me sit up and think when I was a youngster and I would like to think they have stuck with me as I got older. With all the graphic stuff on TV nowadays I think hard hitting gov adverts should be screened after the watershed to make people ( especially motorist ) know how dangerous there actions can be.
Bring back Tufty and Charlie the cat I say :-))
