Hi all

I haven't been posting on here for some time.

There's been a lot of changes and turbulence in my life and I'm pushing for some big changes and doing the things I always said I would but didn't.

The short of it is I'm looking to apply for a professional course in either Sheffield or Bournemouth.

I'm putting out feelers for any folk out there that are looking for lodgers or know of cheap accommodation.

Would need a place from Sept. The courses are 24 weeks not including holiday times. I know the Bournemouth one is initially for 12 weeks only and the following 12 weeks is placements based anywhere I find a placement so may only need a place for 12 weeks.

Any ideas? Any help appreciated.

Thanks all.

He would need to concentrate on areas away from schools but as you say lots of international students, specially in the "summer" months.

Sheffield's great- there are loads of short term letting companies who let houses and flats for students who you can google. Some awful places though so perhaps contact Unite... you should be able to get an ensuite room with shared kitchen for £95/week near the centre for a short let.Try the Leadmill Centre, about 200 metres from the station.

Thanks for the replies all. Architect, if possible I'm looking for something cheaper than that if I do relocate temrarily. I'm trying to think it all through-pass rates on both courses aren't great and looking through portfolios of recent students doesnt inspire me.

I'll see. Any ideas on cheap accommodation in either area much appreciated.

Boscombe area, in Bournemouth must be perhaps your best bet to find cheap accommodation.

My wife asked somebody that lives in a cheap student accommodation in the Westbourne area and she said she pays £85 per week, just for the room and a shared bathroom.

My wife knows a lady whose daughter is off to Uni in September, she might want to take a lodger so I'll find out for you.

Hi there, ttcycle, I just thought I'd pitch my vote for Sheffield. I lived there for about 3 years and loved living there. Great access to the moors, the town centre is pretty compact and the locals are friendly. You might want to think about getting a wider range of gears though: it's a hilly city. London will seem extremely, even featurelessly, flat to you afterwards. But you'll definitely be handier on the hills afterwards. (Actually, I don't really know Bournemouth so my recommendation is rather biased!)
