Cheers Cunobelin,

I wasn't aware of this site, I was using the site from Sustrans. This is really useful. Thanks to everyone else for taking time to answer.

There is a Website that details accommodation.

Thanks from me too. I definitely want to attempt the route this year.

It might be useful to others, as this route gets popular if feed back was provided on cafes and accomodation on this route?

I did it last September and stayed at a very friendly and accomodating place, on the sea front the Craigwell, very cycle friendly and made up a pack for us as we were off at 0530.

Had a great lunch at Fountains Abbey as well, with intermediate stops at a grage in Settle as the cafes weren't open and one in Pocklington

I have a vague plan to have a go at this sometime and was looking at a Travel Lodge for York but a news article said there are three convicted murders on the staff .

Plan B was glamping in a Yurt for the night.

Hi Jacqui,

I'm stopping at the Premier Inn north west in York. It is right next to the route as you enter York so really handy. May also be able to store bikes in linen rooms but not a definite. They are storing the bikes at the Lancaster Premier Inn. Not sure about whether any murderers. I assume if serial killers not employed. Got to give people a chance as you don't know the full facts.

thanks that is useful to know . Are you doing it over two or three days ?

I assume the BB 's on the main web page are bike freindly but some are quite expensive which would be an issue for my friend.

Jacqui,

I have been surprised by the cost of the accomodation. I am doing it over 3 days (doing it with 2 guys who not fulltime cyclists). Starting on a Thursday as quite a few of the B&Bs only accept bookings for 2 nights at weekend rather than 1 night.

Wed night - Premier Inn Lancaster
Thurs night - Grassington - The Black Horse Hotel
Fri night - York - Premier Inn
Sat night - Bridlington. treating ourselves so paying £100 per night

The premier inns are only £56 each including 3 course evening meal and all you can eat breakfast.

I rung/emailed loads of hotels/B&Bs to check whether had secure storage. Tripadviser also got a lot of use.

I will update the website after the trip to help future cyclists. I couldn't believe costs of baggage collection and costs of being driven home. Certainly couldn't afford those prices.

Main tip would be, if you know when you are going book up starightaway.

Quite a few of the people I spoke to were aware of the new cycle way and were very helpful.

All I have to do now is get the training in. Weather permitting!

Last year I was looking for B&B in the village of Blackburn near to Livingstone, having cycled through the Village and spotting a few B&B signs, I stopped to ask at the last one in the village, the Lady said Sorry I only take 2 day booking or more, So I said "Its ok Love I will check out the others".

Lol and behold, she quickly changed her mind, I guess because it was gone 8:00 PM, so not much chance of getting another booking at that time of night, same had happened in Blair Atholl, arriving late they are only too happy to grab any booking they can:-)
