Thinking of taking a party of 6 or so cyclists to Portugal, October 2024. Not touring but staying at one centre accommodation for 7 nights so need a location where there are recognised road cycling routes of various types, flats / gradients etc. Perhaps the Algarve would suit. Will need to hire bikes and would prefer bbem. Looking for suggestions for bike / cyclist friendly accommodation. Flying out of Birmingham.

Algarve is a good shout, and October is a good time to go as it's off season. You can get a flight from Birmingham to Faro for about £200 PP.

I've been (not on the bike) and it's a lovely part of the world. Loads to do and quiet roads from what I remember.

Have used BikeIberia who are based in Lisbon a few times. They can send/collect their bikes at an additional cost. Assume you may be flying to Faro so picking them up in Lisbon wouldn't be on.

Seems to be plenty of companies that would offer all in packages including hire such as this one.

I'll be going from Lisbon northwards in a couple of weeks as Portugal and Spain are both great cycling destinations.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am reluctant to go with specialist cycle package holiday firms as we are experienced enough that once we have a hotel and bike hired (or in my case I take my own) we can sort out routes ourselves.. no need to pay a company to do that for us. Jet 2 do package holidays so might see if any of their hotels are bike friendly.

Steviein Denmark .... Yep, 4 times. Looking for somewhere different.

There seems to be a lack of bike hire places near Portimao / Praia Da Rocha. Recommendations would be welcome.
