I went with an even lighter Scicon bag (actually two taped together as I was flying with a tandem), built the bike at the airport, loaded my two kids on and carried the bags with us for 4 days until we reached the airport that we were flying home from.
They came in handy as picnic blankets and even as a mobile changing room after the kids took a dip in a paddling pool we found on our way.
