No, sorry to be pedantic but they most definitely are not classed as one of the original twelve. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accrington_Stanley_F.C._(1891)

Well when this season kicked off our first match was at Newport County. It was proceeded by a presentation also afforded to all the other original twelve members! We also played Everton in a pre season friendly which was billed as the first meeting since 1889 between these two original members. We also have words to the affect of "One of the original members of the Football League" printed on our shirts for this season. Surely if the FA and the FL thought Stanley to be just another johnny come lately club like Liverpool for example, they wouldn't have allowed the pre match presentation,or the words on the shirt!:thanks:

You\re clutching at straws there. The FA and FL are prone to making the most colossal mistakes and even small ones occur, as is pointed out in your post there. There wasn't enough space on the shirt to go on to say '...was local club Accrington.' but try not to get too narked about it.

And as Mark Twain famously said; 'it's easier to fool people that to convince them they've been fooled' or words to that effect.
