My brother moved up there about 4/5 years ago I went there to his wedding it was ok He's now moved to Bury he says it's much nicer there .

He must have lived in quite a ploppy area of Accrington then?

It did look like quite a run down area where he was but I was only there for a day so can't really comment he lived in a place called Church I think.

i reckon Accrington's NORI bricks being used in the foundations for the Empire State Building is tosh... Manhattan's bedrock is easily strong enough to support the ESB, and all the other huge buildings found on that island... plus, there's no citation for that claim in Wiki.

well done vernon. I always treat un-cited claims in wikipedia with a pinch of salt.

but in the spirit of another recent thread... it is my opinion that it's tosh and i won't back down from that

It was one of those little things that lodged in the brain when I was looking up NORI bricks as a knowledge branch when originally researching Scoria Bricks which were used to pave the back alleys of Darlington.
