Acoustic vs Electric bikes.

Bikes = Bicycle.
Moped = Motor assisted pedal cycle.
Motorcycle = Anything else.

Simples

but a moped requires reg plates and helmet and licence and tax and all that
a "legal ebike" is "just a bike" legally

and that distinction is quite important - I really do not think anything more powerful than mine is safe on paths and tracks
so they need to be referred to differently

Yes, they should have all that.

Yes, they should have all that.
But being electric, there'd be no VED payable. The same as some electric cars.

And we're already seeing the pushback against electric bikes. Not just those that fail to meet UK EPAC regulations.

Wonder how a "No Acoustic Bikes Allowed" sign would be taken/read if they put them in place.

Have you noticed how threads evolve. They get a bit serious. Then someone is perceived to be rude to someone else and it goes off.

Anyway, returning to the point, we have acoustic, electric.
What about old school, country, jazz, punk, un-plugged, live, classical. Then there's folk, can that include ethnic?

Mine's a Cowboy C3. That's a Belgian designed, foreign made, quite neat and innovative, matt black, E-Bike.
If it was a musician I'd think of Jean-Michel Jarre. Sort of Avant Garde pop electric performance.
Have to say it does not in anyway reflect the rider.
Grumpy grey might be the best.

What genre would you as rive to your transport of delight?

Where does your bike fit?

It would be simples if it were correct.

But "moped" legally means any motorbike with a maximum speed between 25 and 45 kph, and an engine capacity of no more than 50cc. And only required to have pedals as an alternative propulsion method if built before 1977.

There is a separate category on driving licences for them, and they can legally be ridden by anyone over the age of 16 (with appropriate licence/insurance etc).

but an ebike covers my legal version
and the ones I see whizzing around at 50 mph with a lad on it dressed in black and just sitting there twisting the throttle as he (probably) shoots up the wrong side of the road

and people seam that should be banned

my concern is simply that some future government will look to gain some votes by increasing the regualtion "to make our towns safe" and my bike will get caught in the fallout

when it will make zero difference that would not be made by enforcing the current rules

I can do 50 mph on my normal bike in the right conditions, and my normal bikes are faster than legal ebikes in most situations.

Over here we call them "Mofas" and E-bikes capable of 25-45km/h are covered by the same legislation, so they have to carry mofa plates.
