I am very envious of Tom Fort. I would love to do something like this.

If any one bumps into him in the pub ask if he fancies a challenge?
Along the Tame from Wolverhampton to the Trent.

I have done some research, it would involve a fair bit of cycling and some probably illegal culvert running.
He might be able to get the Environment Agency's permission to open the grill, it would look more dignified than heaving him over the top.

If he can't swing the funds from BBC Four I'll shoot it on my camcorder. It's not HD though.

I know most of you could do it in a day. But I'm as fit as a failing ferret so it will have to be a weekend at least.
No Winnebago either, it's a tent and as many tins of "All day breakfasts" as we can carry.

Well I think it would be a hoot.

Get him to PM me on here if he is up for it.

I built a pedal powered punt to enter in a race, to take place on the Isle of Wight. Whenever I told people I was doing this, they said "How are you getting it there?"

My confused answer was "In van...." and then I realised that they thought I was going to pedal it there...

I worked out that I could do something like get down the Ouse, across the Humber, into the Aire and Calder Navigation and then the Trent, then the Grand Union Canal to London. After that it got tricky, with no canals or rivers to the south coast. So it would have to be down the Thames, and round the edge of Kent and along the Channel to the Solent. Not advisable in a vessel with about 4" of freeboard.

I was half watching the punt thing last night while on the phone to NT, it looked fun. I'd like to do something like that too!
