Strongly disagree, I work for a very large US company and my US colleagues were stunned when I sent them clips of his earlier work in Blackadder - they thought he was American!

Not that I am remotely interested in medical dramas, but I once saw enough to know that his accent is, as upsidedown says, pretty appalling.

If I did like medical dramas, the cringing accent would mean it is still unwatchable. Astounding that Americans can't see through it, as it's blindingly obvious he's putting it on and finding it difficult!

My Asperger's traits seems to mean I don't hear accents. I know people sound different to one another and I can recognise the voice of someone I know but I have no concept of accent in my head, just different 'voices'. I can mimic a style of speech but with generally my own accent.

I have described it as asking a very colour blind person to recognise and mix colours from a colour chart

This is proving to be an issue on stage. My current show is Calamity Jane. I am supposed to have a Dakota accent, or at least an American wild west accent.
I can't do it. I can't even hear when I get it right by accident so I can't repeat it.

Show goes on at the end of the month. I am going to sound odd aren't I.

Don't worry, my hearing is getting worse, so before long I might even be able to HEAR anything at all!

Seriously though, I seem to getting really bad Tinitus, and I'm only 28!

It's like having the hiss of a pressure cooker at low heat playing inside my head 24/7, and sometimes it pulses like an idling diesel engine instead (I'm pretty sure it's a Hydraulic before you ask).

I'm used to it and find it rather comforting as it is fairly constant, but still, it is starting to become a problem for me!

Tinitus is not fun to have, at any age.

I have spend my life looking after my hearing. Having been in a band in my youth and now working with machinery I have good reason to be careful. So I pride myself on still having good hearing.

However, I have been finding that my hearing has been getting a knocking recently and I eventually found it was down to the rehearsals for the stage work.
We all end up gathered around the PA speakers practicing the songs.
I now stand well back and as far away as I can get away with.

Yes I really do need to get back to the Doctors again coming to think about it.

Hearing is a funny thing. I'm doing a German course at Manchester Uni p/t and when we are given a listening exercise, to discuss or answer questions on, often the tape is played too loud for me to hear because it is distorted. Turn it down a couple of notches and I'm fine!
