Acute urinary retention caused by long ride?

Sounds like you weren’t drinking enough.

I tend to have the opposite issue of if I drink 'enough' on a ride, I'm having to stop half an hour later to relieve myself - !

Recently retired...just this past weekend I did my first long ride, 100k organized ride, on my new Pinarello Dogma X. Had an amazing ride. At the after party I consumed one beer...went to pee...only dribbles. Was hanging with my daughter and totally embarrassed as I was going to port-a-potty every ten minutes. Finally back home I'm now in pain and can't sit or lay down...and can't pee...called 911 in serious pain.

Once they treated me for urinary retention with the catheter in place the pain subsided...as I sit here, catheter in place, researching this issue in fear that I'll never ride the Dogma X again. So, thanks for all your insight here as I begin my journey into the world of Urology.

Sorry to hear of this, but it sounds like you're on the mend. Hopefully you've been out and about on your new bike again since you posted this.
