Hi

I was just wondering if anybody has any experience of these guys? The website looks well organised and up to date. I was interested if anybody has any feedback on the club runs? I'm thinking of going along on Saturday morning.

Cheers,
SD

Dunno about the club runs, but the cyclocross race they organise at PORC Penshurst in November is a great annual event. There's always a couple of Addiscombe guys in the league races, and the kids section seems very active, if that's any use to you.

the club runs are very organised. You're placed in a group (from memory it's 19mph, 17mph, 15mph) and set off in double file. There's a regulated rotation, so that everybody takes a short turn at the front and then goes 'backwards'. The route varies somewhat, but not by a great deal. Again, from memory, it's about fifty five miles. All three groups meet at the same teastop.

Addiscombe is the biggest 'racing' club in the capital. Their rides are almost as big as ours! I reckon that you should try it once. It's not for everybody (I'm more of a social rider) but it's probably quite different to everything you've done before, and it teaches some worthwhile skills.

Addiscombe prides itself on its friendliness. You're made very welcome. And they give something back - they marshal at big race events and their marshals are much, much smarter than the bought in security guard types.

Excellent - thanks chaps.

Simon, I got the friendliness vibe from what I had read on the site and their forum. Think I may have to give it a go on Saturday.

Cheers again,
SD
