I heard it referred to as The Glarby when I lived in Glasgow which I quite like. Sounds more Scottish anyway, never quite got why it didn't morph into "Auld".

I am watching the Rangers V Celtic game and realised I have no idea why it's called the "old firm derby".
It turns out that nobody else knows either. There are various theories but no one actually knows.
BTW..... as a neutral its a good game.

Of the possible explanations, I rather like this one from 1904:

I've always thought of it as a vaguely ominous shorthand for a largely unshakeable institution which runs Scottish football. When you consider that's pretty much what they do, it's a decent enough description...

Half asleep, I recited "Thirty days hath September, April, June and November" but then stopped! On autopilot I ticked the mental 31 days box...

I could never remember that rhyme

They I noticed that the months with 31 days alternate except July and August with both have 31

then the rest have 30 except Feb which is weird

that concept makes more sense to me that a rhyme

only mnemonic that I have remembered is "Virgins In Bed Give You Odd Reactions" - for the colours of the spectrum - backwards

Besides the rhyme about days in a month, another way I've used in recent decades as a guide is to work my way through my knuckles and the dips inbetween, starting at the index knuckle on a loosely clenched fist (then returning to index knuckle after little finger knuckle)...

Each knuckle month is 31 days
Each dip has 30, except Feb

Newish to schrader I have only just realised a leaky valve can be fixed (fingers crossed) by using a pair of needle nose pliars.

Early start. Tyre looked fine. My track pump is now erroneously reading 10 psi below so I then inflated to the correct pressure. On setting off it went soft again !
It is on an ebike rear motor hub so I made a change of plan and replaced the untrustworthy tube. I might attempt another fix and then test to pressure on a spare 20" wheel.It forced a change of plan on my ride, having intended to get the bus up towards Carter Bar for a probable ride across to Thropton.
