I've seen a book swap one in a nearby village, and a defib one somewhere. Ours is next to a bus stop and litter bin, and very little litter or smell of wee if you open the door.

I suspect there might have to be a survey or something around the village, but that's a good idea.
It is quite a good location for what you suggest, we get lots of cyclists up and down our road at the weekends - probably part of a reasonably long road loop for Bristolians! But I've never seen one broken down.

We have the ones one the right in various locations around Bristol. There are also boxes with repair kits at various locations including libraries BUT they only seem to be inside the Bristol City Boundary. The locations of the Emergency Repair Boxes:

There's one of each at Waitrose in Chipping Sodbury - under cover as well! Never seen anyone use it, though.

The point about adopting them is so they're not eyesores. And this is one of the old red ones - not those newfangled mainly-glass contraptions.

Everyone abroad knows the UK by the red postboxes
