If you hit a vehicle when pulling on to a major road, it would take a considerable amount of persuasion to convince any police officer, court, or insurance company that the fault was anyone's except the person pulling out.

Well yes, but that just reversed the situation from the preceding posts! If you are hit by a vehicle when pulling on to a major road, then you're probably both at fault to some degree.

Of course, it may not go that way in either criminal responsibility or civil liability - and the two of those are quite often different from each other - but that's part of the reason why our roads are such nasty aggressive places IMO.
