I know I have really wasted my time on these posts, as when buying cars people seldom take the advice of a professional and prefer to listen to mates etc. They go out with all the good intentions of checking everything, seldom go through with it and wonder later why the thing does not work as it should.

The other thing to think about is a £600 car is it is like a £25 bike, go for something a little odd and you can have many years of good service, try and by a fashion item and it will be scrap.

Those sporting Fiats looked after will be worth £1500 in 5 years time, write this down or keep a copy, that is the opinion of the trade any way. Where as a mk1 Corsa that will depend on the price of scrap at the time.

You haven't though...wasted your time I mean. I mean, you're right that he'll probably get carried away & not be quite as thorough and disciplined as would be ideal, but he'll still take some care and be looking (by the sounds of things) at at least some of the right things, and that will be at least some help in preventing him getting a pup. Which is about as much as you can realistically hope for, and a helluva lot better than nowt.

Fiat Seicento Sporting

I was just driving around with my dad and happened to come across it. It was listed at £425 but after a phone call, the owner went down to £380. The insurance also came out at £1200.
It has 12 months MOT and 6 months Tax.

The owner has had it for 4 years and the only problem was an apparent oil leak but nothing could be found and there is no oil on the ground under the car. It was a private seller and everything seemed genuine. No rust on body work, slight bubbling of paint on the bonnet (but thats to be expected). Lady owner for past 4 years. 4 nearly new tires.

I am so thrilled with it! Had my first ever unsupervised drive for 1 mile to home. Didnt really feel any different. The car is very light on handling and has plenty of power (havent floored it yet though but dont want to wreck it).

It keeps reminding everyone I show about the car in the Inbetweeners movie.
