advice on Buying a first road bike

I'm looking to buy a road bike on the cycle to work scheme my question is : my budget is up to £650 any advice welcome, haven't rode a road bike for years more used to riding my cube mtb.

Basically I'd look for an established brand -Specialized,Giant,Trek etc and a frame with carbon forks.

You then want a reasonably good entry level groupset - Shimano Sora or above.

Finally decide whether you want double or triple chainrings.
