Advice on Lubrication !

My commute is 6.5 miles along a cyclepath surfaced with slatey type gravel when dry it is very dusty and clings to whatever type of chain lube I use and leading to me spending much longer than i would wish cleaning my chain !
Any ideas guys ?

White lightning(?) is good for that, dry wax, but washes off in rain, I think there is a special uk weather version.

I've been using various white lightening lubes for a couple of years - they're great. In the dry season , I just reapply after rain; the chain needed replacing before I had to clean it thoroughly last summer. The winter lubes are a bit more sticky, but they do the job well.

I don't know about the lube, but a quick, cheap & easy way to clean the chain is to use baby wipes. Beats guddling around with degreaser and chain-cleaning gadgets any day!

The best lube I've used by far is Purple Extreme. I have no intention of trying another brand while its available.

Finish-line Green(Cross-Country) for me sticky-ish but doesn't wash-out in the rain.
It's the bits inside the chain that you cannot see that is important, not the outside, that's mostly cosmetic.

I use this in the summer on the MTB, as the routes I use are gritty and dusty in dry conditions.

Basically you just want a good Dry lube (I use Muc Off) and clean it regularly.

@ the baby-wipers, don't they lint on your chain?

Tesco's own brand certainly don't. Try a pack - they're under a quid, and you can use them to remove oil from your fingers and a million & one other cleaning tasks. They're great!
