Rather a quick decision after only asking advice last Wednesday evening!
Good choice, though, IMHO. If you can stretch your budget, @Fab Foodie 's advice is sound. You could get Spa to build the dynohub wheel - I built one for my brother, but for my own, Spa turned out to be as cheap as buying the hub, rim and spokes and doing it myself. Here's a gratuitous pic of my own Spa tourer, complete with dynohub wheel. (Black was the only colour available at the time, but I would probably have chosen it anyway.)

I hope you get the setup comfortable to match your Dolan - might take a bit of tweaking!

One thought ... Get a dynohub built into the front wheel. dynamos are useful things on distance bikes for lighting but also charging stuff. Talk with Spa about it.
you read my mind Fab ,i once bought a dynamo wheel from rose bikes shimano worked fantastic.

It's a Schmidt Sondelux. The one I built for my brother was a Son28, which probably builds into a slightly stronger wheel; I think the flanges are further apart than on the Sondelux. The Son28 also puts out a bit more power, so might be preferable if you want to run a rear light from the hub. On a tight budget (which I am nowadays!), I'd have no hesitation in using the SP PV-8 and saving about £90 off the cost of a Schmidt. Don't forget to factor in a skewer if you get the PV-8, if you don't have one in your spares box, Spa's hex ones seem reasonable at £3.50 each.

looks fantastic, i will ask Spa cycles for price on that ,can't afford wheels just yet but good to know what to buy when the time comes.the build i have in mind is this,
stronglight impact triple new version 48 34 28.
tiagra cassette 11 to 32 10 speed
tigera sti 10 speed shifters.
i have my eye on brooks b 17 special.
i have a set of cannondale V-brakes should work ok but love the paul canti but $156 emm wishful thinking
mudguards sks black .
i have excellent light's but i think i will go for dynamo wheel build SPPV-8 .do you not rate the shimano dynamo hub.?

Hi @jags , I've got nothing against Shimano dynohubs, although I think you need to be careful which one you get, as some of the earlier ones gained a reputation for fragility, poor durability and being less efficient than they might have been. It's just that Spa seem to have stopped selling them, and I thought you might be ordering at the same time as the frame.
Quite a few of the components on my bike were second hand or taken from my old expired commuter, e.g.the wheels (the rear wheel is one I built on an old Shimano 105 hub, 8-speed 13-26), the chainset is an old Campag racing triple, so the gearing is inappropriately high for a tourer and a fat old rider, I think the rear mech is an old Shimano XT which was kicking about in the spares box. Financial corners were cut!

i had boxes of quality spares gave most of them away one time or another, besides i like buying new whenever i can afford it.i will wait until i have the money to get quality wheels no point in buying rubbish.
yeah i'll go with the dynamo hub you recommended more than good enough for me i reckon.

Last time i looked spa no longer offered a shimano dynamo hub in the rims i wanted - sputnik - they seem to prefer those more expensive german son folk now. Pity. And though rose have builds with shimano dynamo hubs I don't think they offer sputniks,

couldn't afford a son built wheel,
the shimano wheel i bought from rose was ok no problems with it but to be honest i only used it on night rides so no big mileage on it to really test it .when i sold my Thorn i had custom wheels on it by sjs. i included the extra wheel in the deal.so now i'm back to SQ one building a touring bike up from scratch again .

i think i'm making a blunder with my gear choices.
i had planned on Tiagra 10 speed sti (4600 2x10) but it just dawned on me they wont work with my choice of cranks, /Stronglight impact triple :hello:
i wan't to go with STI shifters it's what i'm used to but can't find them on Chainreaction they need to be triple don't they..would it be worth considering a Stronglight compact 50x34 and say 11 to 34 on the rear.
