Advice on Pedals

I have been given (sometimes I think it is a joke) some Shimano PD - R535 pedals. Now it seems they are compatible with SH90/92 cleats which are nigh impossible to come across.

Do standard SPD cleats work? SM SH51's?

Reason I asked here is everywhere I look they keep saying it is more of a MTB pedal.
