Advice on promoting our cycle friendly campsite to cyclists?

Hi everyone,

We have joined CC for two reasons. First we are cyclists. You may want check out my blog of a recent cycling trip to morroco to http://www.newmainsfarm.co.uk/blog/2013/08/08/Cycling-in-Morocco-pictures-and-log.aspx.

Nearer to home - well actually at home, we have set up a small campsite on our smallholding in the Scottish Borders (beautiful cycling country). We have managed this for two years and have really enjoyed having cyclists come to stay and they seem to enjoy being here too. Our second reason for joining CC is to ask for advice = what is the best way to advertise our campsite to touring cyclists - any advice welcome?

The first thing anyone wanting to visit has to do is to find the place.
You may know where New Mains farm, Foulden is, but anyone else will be reduced to putting the postcode into google maps and hunting.
Can I suggest adding a googlemap link with an X marks the spot marker on it?

As above. Also the tourist information offices. Whilst we were cycling down that side of the country 2 years ago, we went into the TI offices to get lists of campsites, specifically looking for small campsites. I distinctly remember being given an A4 sheet of paper with a list of campsites on it by the Berwick-upon-Tweed TI office.

How far are you away from NCN 1? If it's not too far you could stick some signs on the route advertising. Near me a couple of LBS have done that.

I think there are websites with advice and info for people riding NCN1 - you could get listed on those.

Although obviously not cycling specific, may I suggest making sure you have a listing on ukcampsite.co.uk. Although quite dated in its design and badly laid out, It's a surprisingly well used website. I don't tend to go anywhere else online to look for campsites.

http://www.lovecamping.co.uk/ is another website to consider signing up on. It might be worth highlighting whatever cyclist friendly facilities you have too (drying facilities, secure bike storage, sheltered cooking area, etc)
