Isn't it the car Sky team use on the TdF?
Skoda sponsor a lot of pro cycling including the recent RLS 100, London-Surrey Classic etc

My cycling buddy has a Superb estate and it really is.... superb! The legroom in the back is outstanding; I can only thrink that Skoda are targeting the minicab market in launching such a comfortable, spacious car at such a reasonable price. I think it might even be a little longer than my own 2015 Passat estate.

That said, while on holiday this year we hired a SEAT Leon estate, 1.4 petrol manual and I loved it; almost as spacious as the Passat/Superb and amazingly economical, with the quietest smoothest engine I've driven for years. I can imagine that if you could get the petrol engine with DSG you would have the ideal load-lugging family car.

I'm guessing the Octavia is the Leon equivalent?

My Fabia is surprisingly economical for such a quick automatic car (1.4 engine, DSG, but with turbo and supercharger) , under £150 ved too

Friend had the Superb Estate and they loved it for it's comfort and size but they had the smallest engine (diesel) which was seriously underpowered in their opinion.

Here for rides.
Your potential Skoda will be the cheapest VW you've ever driven. End of, really.

I was chatting to a mate at our local VW dealership and he said as long as you change the DSG oil on time there are very reliable 'boxes.

I love my DSG Passat; after a lifetime of pushing that pedal and getting a sore knee in traffic I will never go back to a manual. It's a joy to drive.

Octavia and proberly the Leon share the Golf platform although for some reason Skoda seem to make a bigger car out of it ,even the Octavia hatch boot is massive compared to the Golf. Fabia shares the Polo platform although we should say its the Polo that shares the Fabia platform and Skoda were the first to use in back in 2000
I am of course not biased to the Skoda brand,i have not only driven them for over 25 years but I ended up working for them in the past
