That was one thing we had to make sure was still in the car when they were delivered from factory......again,a certain manufacturer with initials RR had them as standard

Slightly OT but cars with umbrellas is my new favourite topic that I love to tell everyone about, I recently bought another car to fill a gap in the fleet and it turns out Nissan were doing umbrellas back in 1992 in the Sunny/Pulsar GTiR! :becool:

On the subject of Superbs, a colleague recently went from a Passat estate to Superb estate and will never look back. Something to do with the position of the fuel tank in the Superb means that the rear leg room is enormous even though the Passat shares the same basic platform underneath. There are lots of other details which have been given more thought in the Superb but I have forgotten. Rest assured you can't go wrong with one.

You really have lost the spirit of life when you start worrying about rear legroom! I am the driver and if I am happy then the rest is immaterial.

Insert witty title here
Due to a change in employment and requirements of the new company I am being forced to buy a new car.
I am replacing a well used VW Passat Estate which has been fantastic. It has taken everything that my children, my bikes, my camping gear, my dogs and my need of lugging stuff around (butler sink and worktop collected from Leicester, welsh dresser collected from Hull, 8 guitars, 3 amps and a drum kit from Glasgow, a concrete coal bunker delivered to Doncaster to name but a few- all from or to South Essex) and it has never missed a beat. Always starts first turn of the key and has actually been the best car I have ever owned - which may say more about the previous cars I have had than I would otherwise let on.
I am thinking of replacing it with a Skoda Superb Estate and would like to know anyone's experience with the Skoda. Will it be as good a car as my Passat has been for the last 8 years that I have owned it and the 6 years the previous keeper had it for to (yes 14 years old and only 2 owners).
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Whatever you buy, remember that you must not spend more than the value of your best bike! Keep those priorities straight. Oh, and next consideration should be bike transporting ability.

I agree. In fact I agree so much that I built a car which suits me perfectly and no one else as nothing is movable ^_^ No one else can drive it comfortably.

re Umbrellas and holders for same. When I'm in charge I shall ban umbrellas in built up areas. FFS on earth can it be considered OK to walk up a crowded pavement carrying something with 6 spikes at (my) eye-level.

I had a Skoda Octavia estate as a company car a couple of years ago. Did over 100000 miles in it and it never missed a beat. If I needed to buy a car of my own I wouldn't hesitate to buy either an Octavia or Superb estate.
Also 90% of the taxis in this area are Skodas
