so my 13 year old son has been on at me for several years about wanting to do a mega charity ride, and I think the time is right. Only thing is, none of the organised rides will accept under 16's so we're going to arrange it ourselves.

So firstly, if anybody's up for joining us, the more the merrier! We're thinking July 16, basically at the beginning of the school summer holiday. 3 day ride to Paris, and a support vehicle, since we'll be on road bikes.

So any advice on routes, training, hotels etc? He's currently fine on 50 mile club rides, and I'm confident he'll be well ready for the 3x 80 mile days. Haven't looked at route elevations yet, but will try to find flattish.

His friend wants to do it too, which I'm not so sure about, since he's not got the cycle fitness, but we'll see nearer the time.

Anyway, any input welcome.

we did the french part of this route earlier this year:

our own route to Newhaven via Shoreham and along the coast

all road or tarmac ex rail line,

no nasty hills

ultra low traffic

sw19 to Eiffel tower = 200 miles exactly
