Just put some aerobars on my road bike and I have a few issues, but mainly that my knees are whacking the arm rests - I'm using a straight seat post with the saddle pushed a bit forward (on a road bike, so that means my saddle isn't that far ahead), and I'm also using a 12cm stem so it's quite a long set up.

Any suggestions to avoid the arm rest contact? I must be doing something wrong because TT bikes in my size are "shorter" and people normally use shorter stems on them and the seat tube is steeper too.

I'm wondering if it's just because sometimes I'm slipping forward on the saddle.

(NB my road position is similar but with a setback seatpost and a 1cm spacer under the stem.)

Oh and I've changed the saddle to one covered with a "grippier" material, and tape the ends of the extensions to see if that helps.

It is probably a stupid question, but were your elbows on the pads like so?

Pretty much. In theory I think I want to bring the arm rests closer to me, to get my upper arms vertical, but then my knees would definitely be hitting stuff.
