I wonder if we'll be able to get the results online or see it on TV? It finishes in Accra today.

Just at Schipol now on the way home from 2 weeks in Ghana and Nigeria so I know all about those roads!

I find it very odd how long it has taken for professional cycling to have been taken up in African countries. They have the men and women - very fine athletes, and they have a hell of a lot of bikes and cyclists. Yet its only just seeming to start. Perhaps its a finance thing, running and long jump, etc, can all be done barefoot to a degree.

I'd love to see how these guys do on Le Tour. My guess is they'd trash some of the old pro teams there.

When you see the condition of the roads, the reckless driving and the day-to-day cost of living in a country like Nigeria you'll understand why most people are forced to direct their cash and energy to just surviving. A bicycle would cost a year's wages or more, I'm sure.
