Mind you, as others have pointed out - once dead you would hardly be thinking what a shame it was that it had happened. Worrying about death is for the living!
I'm not so sure. Long story short, last year I lost a friend who fell down some stairs after a night out. I often think, they will be mad at the level of stupidity that cost them so dear. I've got others but it starts to get bleak. Enjoy what we have and enjoy. As the saying goes, we're here for a good time, not a long time.

Why are you an atheist?
I didn't choose be an atheist. I've flirted with Christianity in my youth and spirituality in my late teens, but after much thought and deliberation, I find concepts such as a supreme being, gods & godesses, angels & demons, ghosts, spirits and miracles so unlikely that i just can't 'believe' in them... which i guess makes me an atheist.

I choose not to be an atheist - I am not defined by what I am not.

The problem for me is not so much that they are unlikely as that they are made up. By people. Even if there is some kind of supreme being that exists outside the rational universe*, it will be beyond our powers to comprehend it. Any attempt to define 'God' is limited by the boundaries of human understanding.

I was brought up a Catholic and it was an almost totally positive experience, but I moved on when I discovered girls.

But how can the Big Bang come from nothing? Why did cells have to form millions of years ago?
