I'll be watching despite it being Alice Roberts...

My feeling is that yes, we're still evolving, but probably in different ways to the past - we 'control' so many evolutionary factors these days, that's bound to have an effect.

I'm watching in spite of whoever the presenter is. No doubt the cameras will be on her face far more then the subject in question as is usual for TV.

I think evolution is very different and cosmetic surgery is going to have a big effect too.

All these artificially 'beautiful' people mating and having off spring that have none of the parents' perceived 'beauty'. :rolleyes:

..she doesnt do it for me.

As for evolution, our stomach/digetive systems have changed over the past 50k years. Our brains have shrunk over the past 1/2 million. iirc

6 minutes in, and I'm struggling not to throw things at the telly...

"I'm Alice Roberts...." I DON'T CARE. David Attenborough doesn't feel the need to namecheck himself at the start of a programme, and you, love, are an amoeba compared to him..

Sorry, she really irritates me. Give me Kate Humble any day.

<tries to concentrate on evolution>

What I find most irritating is the that when the expert is talking the camera shows Ms Roberts nodding.
Why do I want to see her nodding? I want to see the expert talking. I expect anyone lip reading would want to also.

It is the same with demonstrating or showing objects. Why does the camera zoom in on the face and not the interesting objects?:angry:

She's not a patch on the god that is David Attenborough and she needs to sort her hair out but I think she's doing a pretty good job of dumbing down to subject to make it widely accessible.

I prefer Brian Cox though
