Probably before any of you were born I was a Roadie! A lightweight bike with dropped handlebars, together with the cycling gear was the norm. I used to think anyone not on the right sort of bike wearing the right sort of clothes was "not a proper cyclist" My Very Aged Mother now 89 years old, an ex winning racing cyclist in her day, still used to cycle until 18 months ago, with my now deceased Dad, dressed entirely in Cycling top, cycling bottoms, cycling shoes & cycling hats, riding road bikes.
It's the "how many miles have you done and how long did it take you" bit that gets me down. I've been there, done that etc etc & now don't call myself anything other than someone who enjoys riding her bike when she wants, however far she wants & enjoys talking to anyone riding a bike, whatever sort of bike that is. I've enough of them to choose.
Discriminating between what type of cyclist you are is the sort of attitude that can put people off cycling. All you girls out there, look at London Cycle Chic for an alternative cycling look, if a bit quirky for those long club rides!
Just ...... ENJOY IT!!!
