Riding along Battersea Park Road, in the lefthand lane, a British Gas van drifts across from the middle lane with no indication and immediately turns left into Forfar Road. Luckily this all happened fairly slowly and I had been looking behind me. Otherwise who knows? I remonstrated with the driver and nothing. He had short grey hair, about 50 something and was wearing dark shades. A passing biker beeped at him and came up to me and said 'You're a very lucky girl'. Couldn't get his details as had to be at a work meeting first thing, but seriously, people like that shouldn't even be on the road grrr

there was a comedy chap on the A3 this morning who seemed to think that because he'd indicated it was okay to drive across me, held my line and shouted back at his beep nowt serious for me.

However in your case may be worth an email to British Gas fleet office.

Thanks for the comments, just goes to show the importance of always looking over your shoulder. Am reading Tom Vanderbilt's book 'Traffic' at the moment, and finding it very interesting (though not nothing we don't all already know as cyclists). As for the email, I might. Really wish I'd had the time to discuss it with him earlier though.

I'm slightly concerned about the fact that he was wearing shades. Did he have a dog sitting next to him wearing an unusual type of harness...

Shows that keeping a good eye on everything will sometimes save your life, or at least save you from a nasty bump! Glad you're ok.
