I am post decimalisation myself, although I still do imperial for measuring, except for cooking where I weigh in metric. I am not sure if I am coming or going sometimes.

I have a new outlook on the whole 'smug / passive agressive / knobber passing' thing now. I rode with Chris Froome, a couple of weeks back. That gives you perspective. I now just chuckle to myself, if I get a 'hero pass'.

Yes but we don't spend a penny these days. its usually between twenty pence and fifty pence depending where you are, and if we're abroad and in Europe it tends to be half a euro.

I think anybody who rubbish Electric bikes because pensioners pass them, must be Very selfish. Without the Electric bike the tweed pensioner may not be able to carry on a pastime he has been able to enjoy for decades. Who would want to deny him of that for as long as possible?

A bit off topic but. I once chased a guy who looked like he was on a mountain bike up a great big hill and couldn't understand why I was struggling to catch up. Nearly killed myself trying and it wasn't untill i got right up behind him that I realised he was on an electric bike and just pootling along while I was about to expire.
I'm sure theres a lesson to be learned there!

Electric bikes SHOULD (as they are by law in the UK) be limited to 15mph when assisted, I'd only have a problem if I was doing the usual 17-18 and one went passed me not being ridden by a pro
