Altercation with motorcyclist

I was riding through London today on the trike, I was in the cycle lane on Lower Thames Street(? I think, never sure where the name changes), I stopped at a light and heard a beep behind, looked in the mirror to see a motorcycle in the cycle lane behind me. I just shook my head, I wasn't going anywhere, so he bumped my back wheel.

Now at this point the past would have seen me go into extreme carnage mode so I was quite impressed with myself when I applied my parking brake and got off, I stepped back to the motorcycle, ZZR600 (was it LLB?), removed the keys from his ignition and tossed them over onto the pavement, I looked at him and wagged my finger while shaking my head, I must have had a look of murder on my face however as he said not one word or made one move in all the many seconds this took, I did not see him again but I assume he retrieved his keys and went about his day, do motorcycles always use the cycle lanes in London?

The amount of traffic was diabolical by the way, why would anyone want to drive in London on a Saturday?

They all think the ASL is for them as well as cycles, although primarily for them.

haha! I love this post... that'll 'teach him'. I'm imaging the rider trying to bend over to pick up keys in his leathers and thick cycle gloves... !! He's probably still there now...

I gather that Boris has told them that they can, but it's not official yet so they're still breaking the law.
I've certainly seen, and suffered, more of this from motor-cyclists recently. The size, speed, weight and power of these beasts mean that they can't safely share space with cyclists.

I must admit I wouldn't know how to take the key out of a car ignition.

I take it that it's still similar to taking the key out of the front door or is it more technical than that?

I like the look of this I'd be tempted to ride away to wind them up although I wouldn't nick their keys.I would give them back if they could promise me they would grow up.

I thought that Boris was suggesting that m/bikes should be allowed to use bus lanes. I don't think even Boris can change the law regarding cycle lanes and motorized vehicles :bravo:

Well just don't try it in a Megane with the Ass as they have keycards and a push button which is in the Centre console. It'll be a heck of a lean through the window to get this to throw away !

It's really difficult. Generally, only drivers can do it. You'd need to check various online manuals to learn the correct technique.

Just brilliant. Should have tossed the keys in the river. This rider is obviously a bully and I wonder what his reaction would have been had he been bumped by a lorry because he was "in the way".

I did that to a car driver once before after he bumped my rear tire in bus lane waiting for the lights to turn. tossed his keys far down the road. still didnt feel like it was enough.
