Sorry I had no idea what section to use.

The zip on my night vision evo coat has gone, I cant get a reply from the shop (Online company) about getting it replaced under warranty, does anyone know how I contact Altura direct to arrange (Or if I can do this)

I was under the impression that it is the shop where you bought it from who have to deal with it, whether they want to or not. I remember watching some consumer programme where shops were telling customers to go straight the manufacturer for warranty items until they were informed by trading standards they would be prosecuted under consumer protection legislation.

Have you tried phoning the online retailer?
Is it a big retailer or a small one?

If they are not helping look up the consumer protection legislation and quote it to them, you could try consumer direct, if it still exists or the citizens advice bureau.

Hi Gaz
The velcro cuff strap on my Altura Nightvision went after its first wash (3 weeks old) and I had it swapped within an hour. Thats the wonder of LBSs :¬)
The disadvantage is that you pay a bit more, not much in my case and I look on it as an anti- hassle insurance premium. If the difference in price is'nt too great I'll go with them. Lets face it, if they all close we'll all the worse off for it.
Under the sale of goods act ( google it ) your contract is with the shop, not the manufacturer as well they know. If they give you the bums rush please post back and let us know who they are, as I wouldnt want to deal with them and will put them on my blacklist. Good luck

Ok, Here is where we stand.

The Shop have taken the coat back, and refunded me, I paid £67, However I didnt ask for a refund, I asked for a replacment. So I looked on there website but its now being sold for £75, I know there isnt a HUGE Gap in the prices, but where would I stand ? Do I just have to take it on the chin ? or is there something I can do about it ?

I know its only £8 but its the principal .....

So seventy-five quid sounds a bit of a bargain.
As you are not out of pocket I'm not sure what the law says now. The way you're going with your weight loss Gaz, you might be better off taking the money and getting the next size down :¬)

Hi Gaz

I had the same problem with my Evo jacket also. If you find a price on the web then evans will match it. They replaced my jacket within the week.

Actually the Sale of Goods Act states you should be returned to the original state, that is the normal price. You should not have to make up the difference. Once I attended talk by a solicitor about the Sale of Goods Act & he spoke about a pair of shoes he purchased. The shoes were marked at £75 reduced to £50. He purchased the shoes at the sale price, but when he wore them they pinched his feet so he returned them as 'unfit for the purpose.' The retailer agreed to take the shoes back & refunded £50. The solicitor argued he was owed £75 refund even though he only paid £50. The store manager referred the mater to the legal team at their head office. Three days later a cheque for £75 was received. If a retailer states an original price then by law they have to put you back to that position. The problem is not many understand the Sale of Goods Act fully & retailers exploit this to their advantage.

I know it's no particular help, but I had issues with a few bits of Altura clothing, mainly zips, a couple of years ago. I've tended to avoid since.
