Yep – pass the cheddar. I will be off the bike until the frost disappears. Looks like it will be Monday week before the weather warms up. Tacx trainer for a few days next week until then. Annoying but safe as my commuting route is not gritted.

Cold is no problem it was -5 Friday when i went to work.

Crapped myself coming home though, snow was coming down quite heavy and the usual panic by motorist meant the roads were gridlocked.

It was worth it though just to hear "bloody hell mate get off that thing, it's hard enough walking in these conditions"

I'm switching bikes but basically it's cycle in or sit in a massive traffic jam in this weather, so I'll be taking the former.

I am lucky in having gritted roads from my front door to my workplace though

We are all mice.

A friend of mine is off to Finland shortly (I expect he's waiting in Gatwick airport for his flight right now).

Current temperature in Helsinki? MINUS EIGHTEEN!

I cycle to work monday to saturday, 8 mile round trip in all weather. I leave at about 6.30 am and it is very fresh! Doesn't take long to get used to it though

;) Ultimately its up to you whether you cycle, dont let anyone make you feel guilty if you dont.

I rode in last week and it was -3, but I made sure there was no ground/road frost and ice, I also have a lot of winter gear I can wear and I'm pretty well prepared.

Bloody 'ell.........you lot are men of steel

It's 10c here, clear blue skies and sunny. But it's blowing a gale knocking about 3c off the temp.

NO WAY am I going out on the bike.

It was honking down with rain yesterday and had to don wellies to take the dogs out this morning.

No such thing as the wrong weather....only the wrong clothes

I'll be trundling in to work whatever the weather. Beats catching disease on the bus or getting stuck in the car.

I cycled in the last two days on snow and ice - luckily it's only a 15 minute cycle.

I'd say you were pretty much a fancy mouse!

Was out for a few hours yesterday, must have been below zero but was fine as I was well wrapped up. Keeping the extremities warm is the key imo, 2 pairs of gloves, 2 pairs of socks and goretex overshoes and I was warm and toasty.

Snow is too deep today for cycling. Looks like it's the car or train to work tomorrow.
