Am I a (tragic cockwomble) hipster?

I'm definitely not a hipster even if I do have a beard,tattoos,skinny jeans,ride fixed gear and still buy vinyl......
The beards been there since 1981 and doesn't resemble a swarm of bees around my neck!
The tats have been there since the mid eighties,I wear skinny jeans as they're practical for riding fixed and I've ridden fixed/singlespeed for nearly 20 years,a lot of the Goth music I buy these days only comes out on vinyl and you'll never catch me in a coffee shop or wearing plaid shirts!

Hipsters....the ones I remember were low slung trousers bought in Harry Fenton's in 1966, these barely covered my youthful wedding tackle.
They slipped off in spectacular fashion when I rode the rotor in the Southend Kursaal, much to the amusement of everyone else on it.

I hit 4 of them . beard went as its summer and skinny jeans - yeah i won't ever have anything described as skinny .

Much the same as many urban groups. A person wants to be so different from "the crowd" that they adopt "off the wall" tastes in music, activities, clothes etc. Then, "different" becomes cool so more people do it. The only true hipsters IMHO are those who are genuinely eccentric but don't even realise it.
